"The Giving Distance" is a semi-autobiographical mixed media installation that visually navigates a series of poems I’ve written. For this body of work, my intention was to create a journey for the viewer that was sensual but one that would also relay an epic moment of creation; a very personal and powerful proclamation of Love. By embedding my own queer narrative into the work I am simultaneously rejecting belief systems in place while letting my own story be heard. For the exhibition a hand bound limited edition printed book titled “twenty from the margins" was also printed containing my original poems and drawings.
